Outstanding …..we had a small birthday celebration and from start to finish it was a terrific success …..thanks to the management and staff…..rooms very clean…..food great….beautifull environment …ample parking…..great attention to detail ….
The welcome was allright as you might expect from a family hotel.||||"Due to Corona the hotel made some changes to make the guests comfortable.||However there was a thin line between the Corona regulations and the reality. For instance, at breakfast you'll be served from a buffet like breakfast bar. All to keep social distancing, but the staff pick your breakfast by hand. When I discussed it with the staff they claim that they wash and sanitize their hands all the time. This makes you wonder ....."||||"The Superior rooms above the restaurant don't have an airco installed so bare in mind that due to extreem warm weather the rooms can be very very hot. It affects your sleep and you're not well rested." So I can understand some earlyer complaints and the discussions with the owners!||||However the gastronomical part was more then fantastic, it all matched perfectly. They got sloppy on the diet requirements, but they were able to correct their error instantly. In culinary ways I had the time of my life there. ||The wellness part was superb I had a massage included and you can use the gym, swimmingpool and sauna for free. That's a big plus!||||Overall the staff are friendly and helpfull, but it's a big minus that after checkout they don't seem to ask if everything was allright and if I had a pleasant stay. Maybe because of the fear for negative comments, a shame really.||||It's hard to give an overall rating at this point but it's mandatory to give one. So they lose one star because of violating the Corona rules (when on holiday I try not to pay much attention on it otherwise it gets an irritating factor) and losing one star for comfort in the room during extreem hot weather.||It's also unclear if the room was unoccupied 24 hours before my arrival!!
We stayed here for a wellness weekend 2 weeks ago. Great room, very comfy with a soft nice bed. We had a 3 day stay with breakfast and two dinners. The first day we had a lovely lunch at the hotel terrace after which we both had a great body massage, my husband also a feet massage and had I a face treatment. Lovely hotel, great food, friendly staff and very helpful. We had a great time! I enjoyed the wonderful indoor pool before breakfast every morning and had it for myself. After swimming I used the pool terrace outside on a comfy bed. We forgot to take an expensive item from the safe, phoned , they found it and mailed it to us. Chapeau!
The room was a good size but the furniture felt a little outdated. Nice modern bathroom. The room terrace was lovely and we managed to have breakfast delivered to room and enjoy it outside as the weather was warm for February. The hotel terrace was right above our room so it could get quite loud when it was busy with guests, therefore it was difficult to enjoy our private terrace at busy lunch time. If we wanted the dinner at our hotel we had to book a table. When we arrived the hotel restaurant was still empty but we were seated by the door. Pretty disappointing when you are a guest and paying them more then just a regular dinner guest. The menu was very limited, so at the end we went to eat somewhere else and it was worth it.
What an exceptional hotel off the beaten path. Incredible hosts who could not do enough to make my stay wonderful. I was greeted with a handshake by a family member who owned the hotel and was given local advice, driving recommendations to my appointments and told to ask for whatever I needed. Fabulous restaurant, amazing value for money and a setting of pastoral calm and relaxation. I felt safe, welcome and at home. The hotel to include pool and spa area was spotless with amazing views.
Two weeks ago I booked a day spa for two for my mother's birthday. The location, swimming pool and surroundings are beautiful, however I definitely don't recommend the manicure section. They pretty much butchered my and my mother's nails. When I gave this feedback (serious scratches on our nails that hadn't been buffed and uneven, rough filing) at the reception as well through email (the nail polish already pealing off within 24 hours), there was no form of compensation. Even my email was ignored. The rest of the wellness sessions (a massage, body wrapping and facial) were pretty average. Also a note: the lunch (a salad) doesn't include the drinks so don't be surprised if you get an extra bill at the end of the day next to the 150 euro p.p. fee you already have paid. We weren’t told this when they asked us what drink we would like to have with our salad.
Our stay here was a great disappointment. This was our third time and things didn’t get better but severely worse.
The view from our rooms was stunning! But this having said:
- Our room (nr. 25) was big but totally outdated. Being in the bed, you have to watch out not to hurt your head because they put the reading lamps very low and right above it. Especially the bathroom was a disaster. You couldn’t take a shower without wetting the floor completely. Sink and bath are worn out. It took 5 minutes before the water became warm. There are no fly screens for any window or door so, being in the countryside, you will have insectvisitors within minutes. The other rooms (we had two more rooms) were renovated but not the bathrooms!!!! The room price for two persons was 411,- including breakfast and a so called ‘gastronomic surprise dinner’.
- The dinner was not good. Dishes were to simple and meat was ‘not a point’. Included was a glas of cheap champagne and a cup of coffee pretending to be espresso. All well but for these prices? Wine that we could order by the glass, was average and water was expensive, because it was not mineral bottled water. Butter came after we asked for it, and a second bread serving never came.
- This was our last time here.
- A recommendation though if you have to much money and not a lot of taste.
A hotel has a very good managing family team. They run a small country hotel as something particular for the place and resources. They have an inventive kitchen. Wellness on the roof and sauna on the basement areas are very good, although usually they are just an addition to the hotel. Here they are worth visiting as a separate attraction: Turkish bath and sauna are closer to original than usually in Europe.||Be ready for the fenced lawns in front of the hotel: stay on the terrace! You can see, but not walk there.||The hotels consist of two different buildings, newer and older. Be sure, what you book.
