Great night’s sleep!
We arrived in time for lunch at the on-site (non-hotel) restaurant, then checked in at 2 and went straight to the thermal pools. We stayed there for the afternoon, had dinner, and found ourselves so relaxed we collapsed to sleep easily. A good breakfast buffet, and another hour in the pools, and we arrived home feeling well-rested.
Staff were friendly in the hotel, restaurants, and pools. Plenty of car parking, with car and bike charging points.
Great place to stay, good breakfast (between basic and extended). No room service, no drinks or food after 21:00 in or around the hotel. Rooms are spacious but a fridge is missing. Also normal cups for you coffee or tea would be appreciated. Overall a nice place to stay.
The hotel itself was very clean, modern, with friendly and helpful staff. The room was very large and for a family of four, the price was excellent. We were unlucky with the weather but still found many things to do - indoor mini-golf, hiring bicycles and go-karts, and of course the thermal baths. The food in the restaurant and in the "pub" was very nice and there was a good choice. We had a great time!
We booked the hotel for 24.12 and 25.12.2024, choosing a "Deluxe" room with a luxurious course dinner on 24.12 and à la carte dinner on 25.12. Our overall experience was positive.
Check-in is at 14:00, and early access to the spa requires an extra ticket. While my communication was in English, all replies were in Dutch. This was manageable with Google Translate. I wonder why the Hotel was so resistant in replying in English, as we know the Dutch are excellent English speakers.
We arrived at 13:30, and check-in went smoothly. The room initially did not open with the code, but after receiving a card from reception, we accessed a large, clean room with direct ground floor access. Towels and other spa essentials were nicely prepared.
The spa is amazing, especially in winter. It features three outdoor pools and one indoor pool with perfect temperatures, nozzles, and a whirlpool. The Kneipp area is also great, and the additional cost for private sauna areas is reasonable. We enjoyed snacks like apple strudel, water, small Weizen, fries, and cake, all delicious and reasonably priced at 26 EUR.
I found some reviews about the place being dirty and worn out unfair. While some areas show corrosion due to the saltwater pools, everything is maintained. It's normal to find some hairs in showers and trash in dressing areas when it's busy. More frequent cleaning would be beneficial.
We pre-ordered the Christmas menu, which included a salmon starter, white fish with vegetables, and a large dessert plate. The meal was satisfactory, and with drinks, the total was 120 EUR.
Regarding the bed, the reviews were accurate. It was small with a very soft mattress, making it uncomfortable. I struggled to stay in the bed and not roll over my wife, as the beds tended to slip apart during the night.
Breakfast was standard European fare with buns, eggs, ham, sausages, cheese, yogurt, etc. It wasn't exceptional but was satisfactory. Just for information…the room key password still didn't work, though we had the key. Funny, the emergency exit / parking opened with the password and not with the key, the hotel room vise-versa.
On the second day, the spa was more crowded since it was the first Christmas day. The cleanliness decreased, and I didn't see any cleaning staff, only guards. Additional cleaning throughout the day would improve the experience. Lunch included croquette and French fries with beer for two, totaling 36 EUR.
Our last dinner was à la carte. We ordered beef carpaccio and assorted bread with olive oil, crème, herbal butter, and olives. The starter was good, but the main dishes were disappointing. The curry was tasteless, and the chicken satay with French fries and mayonnaise was not appealing. Peanut sauce with fries…you can do so but shouldn’t. Since the menu is only in Dutch language and no English version available, we overlooked this. Overall, the food is average, so it's not the place for fine dining. However, the spa, especially in winter, the large room, and the timing made it worthwhile. We spent around 430 EUR for two nights, including breakfast, and another 300 EUR for food.
A large hotel with extensive grounds. Even though we were only staying for one night, our clean bedroom was large with a good sized bathroom and separate toilet. There was also a television and safe in the room. Our room came with bathrobes, slippers and towels for spa use (but as my cousin had paid for our accommodation I don't know if these were included in the price or were 'extras'). The baths were busy (but not too busy) and there was plenty of time to enjoy them (including on the morning of our departure). A good bar area were it was nice to sit and enjoy the night area. Breakfast was self-service but there was a good selection. My wife is Gluten Free and she was most surprised to find that they had baked her special bread. All the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke many languages, including English. There was one small complaint from my cousin that one of the bar staff didn't speak Dutch!! A very enjoyable stay.
Shame on you!
The place is nice but the man at the reception was very disrespectful and stingy. He charged us more than € 7,50 because I was late past 11:00. I was late because the payment machine wasn’t working. After waiting 17 minutes he finally told me to pay using another machine. I explained to him that it wasn’t my fault I was delayed because of their issue not mine! Instead of apologizing he started talking loudly to me. I paid and left.
This was my first and last visit. It’s not about the money it’s about the principle Once again shame on you.
Well, im disappointed.
With my wife we stay in room 103, lucky for us that was the last one available but expensive 😬
After checking in and using the toilet a bad smell appeared. Hoping it’s temporary we went to relax in the hot salty water.
After coming back the smell it the toilet remained.
I went to the front desk to ask for help!
At first I was asked if it’s ok if someone comes in the morning… I said, no! I wont be here! Ok. Said the the girl, I’ll put it in the system. She also ask if someone can come while we are not there, I said sure but we will be there. No one comes!!!
Bad smell in the toilet!!! How romantic 😬
- Only twin beds, very basic rooms tho big enough and well heated. The staff needs a bit more professionalism... ||The prices on classical massages are not worth it... Maybe a thai one would have been better, but only available as of thursdays. ||The prices on food in the sauna area is exaggerated and the quality is extremely poor. I preferred to eat in the reception cafe tho it is not cheap at all. We paid 89eur per night and this is a bit much for what it is...|| + The hotel is annexed to the spa and when staying in the hotel you have free access to the spa. The breakfast is included in the price. ||The location is great since there are two lakes on the territory. I guess in summer it gets crowded.
